The 2024 South African Loyalty Awards held at the Truth International Leaders in Loyalty Summit in Cape Town has revealed the best loyalty brands in the country.
The awards which are designed to celebrate loyalty, brilliance and innovation are in their sixth year of operation. The awards were started by Truth, an international loyalty and CRM consultancy, based in South Africa.
According to Truth, loyalty brands are helping South Africans in their tough times and in their daily struggle to survive financially. The loyalty rewards help SA consumers meet their monthly expenditures.
Amanda Cromhout, who was both the judging chairperson for the South African Loyalty Awards and CEO/Founder of Truth, said that SA produces some of the world’s most respectable loyalty brands, with world-class results and customer experiences.
There are 24 categories where entries have been evaluated through a robust judging process by a committee that is made up of 14 loyalty and CRM professionals from SA and across the globe.
According to Truth, the headline awards “Best Programme of the Year” are awarded to industry leaders across various sectors, including retail, financial services, restaurant/quick service restaurants (QSR), travel, fuel, telco and leisure.
Headline awards for “Best Programme of the Year” were awarded to:
1. Best overall long-term loyalty programme – FNB eBucks
2. Best loyalty programme: Retail – The Shoprite Group Xtra Savings
3. Best loyalty programme: Financial Services – FNB eBucks
4. Best loyalty programme: Restaurant/QSR – Spur Family Card
5. Best loyalty programme: Travel/Hospitality – Legacy Lifestyle
6. Best loyalty programme: Fuel – Shell V+
7. Best loyalty programme: Telco – Vodacom Vodabucks
8. Best loyalty programme: Entertainment/Leisure – DStv Rewards
9. Best partnership programme of the year – FNB eBucks
10. Best programme of the year: Newcomer – The Shoprite Group Xtra Savings Plus
11. Best programme of the year: Relaunched – African Bank Audacious Rewards
Other distinct loyalty awards were also presented to recognise loyalty excellence for innovation in technology, community loyalty campaigns, supporting agencies and best loyalty marketing campaign, amongst other things. According to Truth, the one brand that dominated the awards for 2024 as well as in 2023 was the eBucks loyalty programme from FNB. FNB eBucks won a total of five awards in various categories.
The SA judging committee also honours individuals and loyalty team leadership.
Fionna Ronnie, head of Customer and Loyalty, TFG Rewards is recognised as the “Loyalty Personality of the year” for SA for her ongoing approach, leadership and results in the industry.
The Discovery Vitality team received “Best Loyalty Team of the Year” in recognition of its outstanding achievement across multiple markets in creating a programme which changes customer behaviour for within its shared-value model.
