Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina made the announcement on Monday afternoon at a media briefing in Johannesburg.
Johannesburg residents will have their water supply throttled from 9pm to 4am every day starting from Thursday.
This means the water pressure will be low during these times.
The move is an attempt to allow the city’s reservoirs to fill up and stablise.
Currently, the reservoirs supplying water to Johannesburg are sitting at around 40%.
The announcement was made by Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina during a media briefing in Johannesburg.
“The throttling of water supply between 9pm and 4am. The city intends to implement this continuously from the 14th of November until the system is fully recovered. This is in line with our restrictions on level one to enable the reservoirs to recover overnight.”
