South Africa’s largest retailer, Shoprite Group, has announced the launch of its new clothing store brand, UNIQ. The brand promises simplicity, comfort, superior fabrics, and value for its customers. UNIQ’s first store is now open in Cape Town’s Canal Walk shopping centre, with eight more stores set to open over the next month.
UNIQ’s range will cater to the entire family, with premium basics sold in various fabrics and colours that are easy to mix and match. Every item of clothing is designed and made to last, with the launch range including an extensive collection of t-shirts, women’s and men’s wear, children’s basics, puffer jackets, and quality underwear for both genders. UNIQ will be the first South African clothing retailer to introduce Supima cotton to the mass market.
UNIQ’s self-service checkout is also a first for South African clothing retailers, with smart stages and frequency identification (RFID) allowing customers to scan and pay for items easily. Each new store is expected to create an average of nine new jobs, with well-trained employees assisting customers on the sales floor.
The eight standalone stores set to open over the next month include: Ballito Junction Mall, Secunda Mall, Table Bay Mall, Mall@Reds Shopping Centre, The Grove Mall, Galleria Mall, Chartwell Corner, and Menlyn Park.
UNIQ’s self-service checkout offering is in line with Shoprite Group’s commitment to convenience through innovation.
